Walton to Present at SALT ’03 Conference
1 January 2003

Press Release

Falls Church, Va., January 1, 2003 - ITC Learning, a leading provider of process and manufacturing workplace skills training, today announced that J. H. (Bill) Walton, an ITC Learning Founder, along with Dr. Hank Bailey, formerly of Bloomsburg University (PA), will be giving a joint presentation entitled, “Online Learning: A Recipe for Success” at the Conference on New Learning Technologies. The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19 from 11:15 to 12:00.

Walton and Bailey will use ITC Learning’s newly designed iKNOW on-line courseware as illustrations for their premise that today online learning is more effective as a “radio medium” than it is as either a “page-turner” or “television” medium.

The presentation will demonstrate criteria for improving the quality and performance of online learning. It will address concerns of individuals who: • are currently dissatisfied with online learning • find online education and training development time-intensive and costly • have experienced online software performing inefficiently and ineffectively • have found online lessons lacking in explicit, sound pedagogical design principles • currently rate the overall quality of online learning negatively as “fair” to “poor

A copy of the presentation can be obtained by e-mailing Learning@ITC Learninglearning.com or calling (800) 638-3757.

The conference is sponsored by the Society for Applied Learning Technology (SALT). The Conference will take place February 19-21 at the Hyatt Orlando Hotel in Kissimmee, Florida.

Founded in 1972, SALT orients its annual conferences to professional trainers and educators whose work requires knowledge and communication in the field of instructional technology. Walton serves on its Board of Directors. For more information on SALT visit www.salt.org.
